With wins in two of their three games, the Cerritos College women's water polo team took third place at the South Coast Conference Tournament, which was held over the weekend at Mt. San Antonio College. The Falcons (13-11, 8-3), who were seeded #3, opened with a 16-2 victory over Pasadena City and then were defeated, 13-7 in the semifinals by the host Mounties. In the third place game on Saturday, Cerritos defeated Chaffey College, 13-5. They will find out Sunday morning if they are one of the 12 teams that will advance to the Southern California Regional Playoffs, which will take place at Los Angeles Valley College next weekend.

Cerritos vs. Pasadena City: On their way to the convincing win, the Falcons opened up a 6-0 lead in the second quarter and balanced their offense by scoring four times in each of the four quarters. They limited the Lancers to just a single goal in the second and fourth quarters, as sophomore goalkeeper Ivanna Tostado (Troy HS) made 15 saves in the game. Offensively, sophomore Isabella Sierra (California HS) accounted for six of the goals, while also assisting on three and posted three steals. Freshman Lizbeth Gomez (Schurr HS) contributed four goals and five steals, with the duo of sophomore Jackie Oliveros (Gahr HS) and Joanna Joson (Gahr HS) each posting a pair of goals, with Oliveros adding four steals.

Cerritos vs. Mt. San Antonio: In the semifinal game, the Mounties jumped out to a 5-1 lead and then led 9-4 at halftime. The Falcons were unable to keep Mt. SAC from scoring in bunches, as they allowed four in a row turning a 7-4 deficit into an 11-4 game that they could not recover from. Sierra scored six of the team's seven goals in the game, while Rabb and sophomore Elisa Prohroff (Schurr HS) combined for five assists. Tostado recorded 10 saves on the day.

Cerritos vs. Chaffey: Rebounding from the loss, the Falcons scored the first five goals to start the game, with Sierra scoring three times in the first half and Rabb adding two, as the team took a 7-2 lead midway through the game. For the second time in the game, Cerritos scored five consecutive goals and took a 12-3 lead early in the fourth quarter and rolled to the win. Sierra led the team with six goals and is now third in the state with 96 goals, with Rabb contributing four goals and three assists. Gomez finished with four goals, three assists and three steals, while Tostado made 14 saves. On the year, Tostado is tied for third in the state with 236 saves.

NOTES: The 96 goals by Sierra are currently fourth in single-season school history and is just four goals shy of joining the other three with over 100 goals in a season. Her 161 career goals are third in school history, while she set a school record with 10 goals in a game earlier this season. The save total by Tostado ranks her third in school history in a season. Rabb leads the team with 51 assists, which ranks her tied for third in the state and second in school single-season history
