A quartet of Cerritos College women's water polo players earned All-South Coast Conference recognition, with two of them being named to the 1st Team for the second season in a row. Both Angelina Romero (Schurr HS) and Miranda Alvarez (Schurr HS) were named to the 1st Team for the second season in a row, while sophomore Kaya Glynn (Cerritos HS) and freshman Alyssa Sorrells (Bell Gardens HS) received 2nd Team honors. The Falcons concluded the season with a an 11-17 overall record and placed third in conference action with a 7-3 mark.
On the year, Romero became just the fourth player in school history to score over 100 goals (101) and concluded her career with 159 goals, which ranks sixth in school history. Her 50 assists this season are the eighth most in a season. She scored at least one goal in all but four games on the year, which included a season-high eight goals against Modesto College. Additionally, she assisted on eight goals against Rio Hondo College and registered a season-high six steals against Pasadena City. Alvarez, an All-American selection last year, finished off this season by leading the team with 72 assists and 68 steals, while she was second on the team with 65 goals. Her assist total was second in the state and are the third most in a season in school history. She finished eighth in the state in steals. Her 126 career goals rank as the 10th most in school history.
As for Sorrells, she set a new school record with her 290 saves in a season, breaking the old record of 270, which was set by Sharon Ku in 2012. The save total was also the fourth most in the state. Sorrells recorded a season-high 18 saves against most Citrus College and El Camino, while finishing with double-digit saves in 16 matches. Glynn was fourth on the team with 33 goals, second in assists (51) and third in steals (55). The assist total are the seventh most in a season in school history.
