Continuing to run against four-year schools, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished ahead of all other community colleges and took 10th place at the Biola Invitational on Friday. The Falcons, who finished with 281 team points, placed ahead of five other community colleges, while their top runner was the first from a two-year school to complete the 5K course.

Freshman Lauren Berg (Fountain Valley HS), who won the Fresno Invitational last week, posted a time of 19:17.5 to put her in 24th place overall out of 124 entries. She was four seconds off her time from last weekend, which would have only moved her up one place. The winning team was a scorching 17:00.7 by an unattached runner.

The trio of Charlotte Barrera (El Rancho HS), Isabel Orosco (Schurr HS) and Tracy Acevedo (Santa Fe HS) all finished within five places of each other, but were well off the pace of Berg. Barrera posted an 80th place time of 21:25.8 and was followed closely by Orosco, whose time of 21:26.8 put her in 82nd place. Not too far behind was Acevedo, who was clocked in 21:43.2, which put her in 85th place overall.

Natalie Juarez (Norwalk HS) the next Falcon to cross the finish line with a 90th place time of 22:00.8, while sophomore Valeria Guerra (Warren HS) posted a time of 22:57.5 to come in 100th place. Also competing was freshman Maggie Quinones (Downey HS), who turned in a 117th place time of 16:15.5.

Next Friday, the team will run in the Coach Downey Cross Country Classic, which will take place at Morely Field in San Diego.
