With the regular season coming to an end, the Cerritos College softball team is looking to earn as many wins as possible heading into the post-season. On Friday, the Falcons (21-15) received a big day from freshman outfielder Brianna Spoolstra (Mayfair HS) in a 10-4 South Coast Conference crossover win over East Los Angeles. The team will play their third straight game in as many days when they host Santiago Canyon College (28-9) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Nancy Kelly Field.

In consecutive innings against the Huskies (19-16), Spoolstra cleared the bases with a double, which accounted for her season-high six RBI on the day. In the fourth inning, sophomore second baseman Rain Vega (La Mirada HS) drew a walk, followed by a single from freshman outfielder Kayla Aros (Torrance HS). With runners at second and third base, sophomore catcher Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS) drew a walk to load the bases. Sophomore Tatyana Peko (La Habra HS), who came into the game when freshman shortstop Tena Spoolstra (Mayfair HS) was injured stealing a base in the first inning, singled home a run. That kept the bases loaded for Brianna Spoolstra, who doubled into left-center field to drive in all three runs.

Aros drove in the Falcons first run in the fifth inning with a base hit, that plated freshman third baseman Kayla Hernandez (Santa Fe HS). The bases were loaded for Lopez, who was walked again, and with two outs, Brianna Spoolstra drove another shot into left-center field for a three-run double.

Brianna Spoolstra finished the day 4-for-6 with six RBI, while Hernandez and Aros each collected a pair of hits. Freshman pitcher Sierra Gerdts (Montebello HS) came on in relief in the fourth inning to earn the win, as she surrendered one run on five hits, while striking out three.
