The Cerritos College baseball team lists 14 pitchers on their roster and against Golden West College on Tuesday, nine of them saw action. The end result was an 11-4 non-conference loss at Kincaid Field, which drops the team's record to 1-4 on the year. They will now host Santa Ana College at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Sophomore starting pitcher Sebastian Frutos (Bellflower HS) only lasted two innings and surrendered one run on five hits, which included working out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the first inning. The Falcons were knotted at 1-1 in the second inning after freshman catcher Taylor Cavazos (Diamond Bar HS) drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Sophomore outfielder Dalton Gervais (Rogers, WA HS/Grays Harbor, WA CC) reached on an infield single and then came home to score after freshman outfielder Edgar Menendez (Katella HS) and freshman shortstop Jacob Valdez (Katella HS) were both hit by Dylan Mitchell pitches before Cavazos was hit to force home a run.

Just as they had started in the first inning, the Rustlers were able to constantly put pressure on the Falcon pitchers. They scored five runs in the fourth inning, thanks in part to a pair of Cerritos errors, and went on to record 17 hits in the win. Freshman Jacob Northcutt (St. Joseph HS), who gave up two of the first five runs in the fourth inning, took the loss.

Offensively, the Falcons collected just five hits, with Gervais collecting two of them. Menendez drove in a run with a single in the sixth inning, while freshman pinch-hitter Zachariah Diaz (Highland HS) drilled a run-scoring double in the ninth inning.
