Freshman pitcher Jared Robinson (Bishop Amat HS) pitched seven innings and went 2-for-5 at the plate with four RBI to help lead the Cerritos College baseball team to a 7-2 South Coast Conference win against Pasadena City College on Tuesday. The win snapped a seven-game losing skid for the Falcons (9-16, 4-6), who will host the Lancers at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Kincaid Field.

For Robinson (2-4), he surrendered five hits and two runs while striking out seven batters over seven innings of work. He helped his cause with a two-run triple in the first inning and then added a two-run double to break open a close 4-2 game in the eighth inning. Robinson only struggled in the third inning when he allowed both Lancer runs, but struck out David Halstead with runners at first and second the end the inning.

Offensively, the Falcons took advantage of three Pasadena City errors to score three of their runs, as freshman third baseman Hayden Stevens (Katella HS) singled home sophomore second baseman Tyler Acevedo (Sunny Hills HS/Irvine Valley College) in the sixth inning. Stevens added an RBI sacrifice fly in the ninth inning. Cerritos took a 3-0 lead in the third inning when freshman Jacob Valdez (Katella HS) advanced to second base on a ground out, but a throwing error by Halstead allowed Valdez to come around to score.

Eight of the team's 10 hits on the day came courtesy of a pair of hits each from Acevedo, Stevens, freshman outfielder Johnny Martinez (Katella HS) and Robinson in the 2-through-5 positions in the batting order. Valdez and Acevedo each scored three runs in the victory.
