The Cerritos College baseball team committed four errors in their South Coast Conference game against East Los Angeles College Tuesday and the end result was a 15-2 loss. The setback drops the Falcons record to 14-20 on the year and 9-10 in SCC play with two games left in the season. They will take on the host Huskies (22-12, 12-7) on Thursday and then wind up the season with a 2:30 p.m. game on Friday at Kincaid Field.

In the top of the third inning, an error opened the door for four East LA runs. With two outs and the bases loaded, Falcon shortstop Cesar Castillo (Bellflower HS) decided to try and force the Silvestri Sanchez at third base, but his throw went over the head of third baseman Hayden Stevens (Katella HS), which allowed two runs to come home. Joseph Tellez followed that with a two-run single off losing pitcher Jared Robinson (Bishop Amat HS), who saw his record drop to 3-7.

The floodgates opened in the sixth inning when Cerritos committed three errors, with the Huskies scoring eight times, with only two of the runs being earned. The inning started when second baseman Tyler Acevedo (Sunny Hills HS/Irvine Valley College) mishandled a ground ball to lead off the inning. Two walks and two hits later, Robinson was replaced by Jared Gibson (Downey HS), who faced five batters and saw three of them score. East LA added three more runs in the seventh inning.

Offensively, Cerritos scored their two runs in the sixth inning and received the benefit of one error to help them along. Catcher Anthony Vazquez (Bellflower HS) led off with a walk, followed by a single from Robinson. Joseph Rivera (Savanna HS) then saw his routine fly ball dropped by Andrew Gutierrez to load the bases. Sacrifice flies from outfielder Johnny Martinez (Katella HS) and Stevens accounted for both runs.
