The Cerritos College men's swimming team wanted to finish the CCCAA State Championships the best way they knew how. The Falcons, who came in 17th place as a team with 65 points, broke their second school record in three days in their final event of the championships. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Joshua Owens (Kennedy HS), sophomore Joshua Hanein (Warren HS/Stevens Institute of Technology, NJ CC), sophomore Enrico Hidalgo (Kennedy HS) and freshman Eugene Runas (Long Beach Millikan HS) broke the record they set at the South Coast Conference Championships last week by posting a time of 3:10.59. They set the record in the prelims when they swam a 3:10.83 and then turned in a faster time in the consolation race. Both times broke the mark of 3:10.94 set earlier in the season and earned them an 10th place finish.

The team finish by the Falcons was the highest of any school in the South Coast Conference, except for El Camino College, who finished in seventh place.

Also competing on the final day of the championships was Runas, who recorded a time of 2:10.74 to come in 12th place in the 200-yard breaststroke.
