Still in the early part of their season, the Cerritos College men's track and field team turned in some solid marks at the Ron Kamaka Invitational at Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday. The Falcons will continue their season next weekend at the Cal State Long Beach Invitational.
In the sprinting events, freshman Sebastian Lopez (Downey HS) placed sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.96, while sophomore Jordan Crowdus (Cabrillo HS) posted a fifth place time of 22.07 in the 200 meters. Freshman Anthony Hines (Long Beach Poly HS) came in sixth place in the 110-meter HH with a time of 16.55, while the tandem of freshman Elijah Jones (Long Beach Jordan HS) and sophomore Willie Hall (Long Beach Poly HS/Long Beach CC) posted respective times of 58.11 and 58.98 to finish in fourth and fifth places.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Crowdus, Caleb Dunomes (Long Beach Poly HS), Konnor Handy (St. John Bosco HS) and Jones were clocked in 3:23.95, which earned them a third place result. In the 3000 meter distance race, Joshua Melendez (St. Paul HS) and Robert Guerrero (Long Beach Poly HS) finished at the top of the leader board, with respective times of 8:54.51 and 8:57.61, which put them in fourth and fifth places.
In the thorwing events, sophomore Daniel Chavez (Los Alamitos HS) recorded a fourth place shot put distance of 12.20 meters, while Damian Salas (Garfield HS) came in seventh place at 11.26 meters.
