The Cerritos College men's water polo team showed no signs of fatigue after their shootout loss to Long Beach City, as they came back two days later and swept all four games at the San Diego Mesa Tournament. The Falcons (14-4) opened the tournament with a 17-10 win over Santa Ana College on Friday and followed that with a convincing 20-9 win over the host Olympians. On the second day, they started with a 19-10 victory against Grossmont College and concluded with a 19-10 triumph over Santa Monica College.

Playing without sophomore Christian Flores (Montebello HS), who had to sit out the first game of the tournament after his ejection against the Vikings on Wednesday, the Falcons received five goals from freshman Miguel Garcia (Montebello HS) in the win over Santa Ana, while sophomore Rafael Romero (Montebello HS) contributed four goals and five assists. The trio of sophomore Samuel Raya (Montebello HS), along with freshmen Kevin Cordova (Montebello HS) and Albert Kim (Cerritos HS) each scored twice, while freshman Joshua Owens (Kennedy HS) finished with three assists and sophomore Chad Castro (Whittier HS) recorded three steals. In goal, the tandem of sophomore Michael Skinas (La Serna HS) and freshman Coleton Perez (Western HS) combined for 10 saves.

Five players scored twice in the win over SD Mesa, with Cordova leading the team with four goals and added four steals. Flores returned to the lineup to score twice and led the team with five steals, while Garcia added three goals, four assists and three steals. Castro and Kim were joined by freshmen TJ Tigerina (Bell Gardens HS) and Christian Cordova (Montebello HS) with two goals, while Skinas (six saves, two steals) and Perez (three saves) shared the duties in goal.

Garcia (five goals, three assists, two steals), Flores (four goals, three assists, two steals), Cordova (three goals, three steals) and Kim (two goals, five steals) led the way over Grossmont, while Tigerina finished with a pair of goals, assists and steals. Skinas played most of the game and made 16 saves to go with his season-high four steals. Making just their season appearance of the year in the finale against Santa Monica was freshman Alexander Irvine (Schurr HS), who scored a pair of goals. He was joined by the trio of Cordova, Tigerina and Flores, who all scored three times, while Castro and Romero each dished out three assists.
