Just five days ago, the Cerritos College men's water polo team faced Palomar College at the Riverside tournament and came away with an 18-16 win. On Wednesday night, the Falcons fought back from a three-goal deficit to post a 10-8 win at the Falcon Aquatic Center. The win improved the state's sixth-ranked team's record to 18-7 on the year, while the #9-ranked Comets dropped to 18-3. Cerritos will  play another doubleheader next Wednesday when they host Chaffey College in a South Coast Conference match at 4:15 p.m. and then come back for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest against Occidental College.

Trailing 6-3 in the third quarter, the Falcons turned to sophomore Christian Flores (Montebello HS), who had been held scoreless thus far. He scored with 4:52 left in the third quarter to get to within 6-4 after after freshman Miguel Garcia (Montebello HS) scored with 3:31 remaining, sophomore Davey Brown (Whittier HS) tied the game with 2:55 left. Flores then scored the team's next three goals with powerful shots from in front of the net, as Cerritos opened up a 10-7 lead.

In their first meeting Palomar's Rhett Turvey scored five times and assisted on three others, but was limited to just one goal in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Skinas (La Serna HS) turned away Turvey several times, and did the same as they Falcons got to within striking distance and even moreso after they took the lead. Skinas finished the match with 13 saves, while his counterpart, Blaise Morales also stopped 13 shots.

Flores finished the match with five goals, while Wyatt Woodward and Danny Tanner each scored twice for the Comets.
