For the third time this season, the Cerritos College wrestling team defeated West Hills College Lemoore. On Friday in their home opener, the Falcons posted a 38-6 decision, as they won eight of the 10 matches. The team will now enter the Santa Ana Tournament on Saturday.

The Falcons (6-0) were aided by a pair of wins by pinfall, as well as a forfeit and two major decisions. After sophomore 157-pound Keanu Tom (Los Alamitos HS) received a forfeit win, the duo of Ruben Avila (Lake Elsinore HS) and Dylan Clarke (Burnt Hills, NY HS) each finished off their opponent in less than a minute to put the contest out of reach. At 165 pounds, Avila pinned Justice Cortez in :42 seconds, while 174-pound Clarke finished off Juan Segura in :47 seconds.

Freshman AJ McKee (Long Beach Poly HS) had six near falls in his 18-2 win over Lataurus Harris at 149 pounds, while 133-pound sophomore Dustin Kirk (Elsinore HS) scored all of his points in a 23-5 major decision in the first period. Freshman 285-pound Jesse Gomez (Buena Park HS) was impressive in his 13-3 win over Kyle Mask, while sophomore Max Kumashiro (Los Alamitos HS) handed Blake Vargas-Marple a 7-1 setback at 184 pounds.

Also winning for Cerritos was freshman Jesse Mastron (Calvary Chapel HS), who posted a 5-3 decision at 141 pounds.
