W. Soccer: Shutout loss snaps unbeaten streak

Heading into their South Coast Conference game against Rio Hondo College Friday night, the Cerritos College women's soccer team was unbeaten in their last seven games (6-0-1). But after their 3-0 loss to the Roadrunners, the Falcons (8-4-2, 1-1-0) slipped down to fifth place in the conference. The have a chance to start another unbeaten streak when they host Mt. San Antonio College in a 4:00 p.m. conference game on Tuesday. The Mounties (10-3-2, 2-0-0) currently sit in second place in the SCC.

Rio Hondo scored early in the game on a penalty kick and added another goal before halftime. They capped off the scoring with a second half goal.

The Falcons did get seven shots on goal, but ended up getting shut out for the third time this season. Sophomore Gabriela Jimenez (Los Angeles Jordan HS) and Maria Campos (Paramount HS) each had a pair of shots on goal.
