The first wave of Cerritos College women's soccer players have signed to play at four-year schools. Two-time 1st Team All-South Coast Conference forward Valeria Corrilo (Paramount HS) has signed with Cal State Los Angeles, while defensive midfielder Maria Campos (Paramount HS) inked with Life Pacific University. Defender Jaylene Valentin (La Serna HS) will continue her education and playing career at Hope International University. Last season, the Falcons went 15-5-2 on the year and were eliminated in the 2nd Round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Corrilo, who set a school freshman record with 22 assists in 2018, produced eight goals and 14 assists as a sophomore and ended her Falcon career with 23 goals and 36 assists in 45 games in her two seasons. Over a seven-game stretch late in the season, Corrilo combined to score seven goals with eight assists, as Cerritos won each of the games.

"Cal State LA is fortunate to be getting a player the caliber of Val," said head coach Ruben Gonzalez. "She is a hard-working midfielder who can score and brings leadership qualities."

The Eagles went 9-8-1 last season with a pair of former Falcons on their roster. They qualified for the NCAA Division II West Regional and won their first game before being defeated, 1-0 in double overtime by Western Washington University in the 2nd Round.

With Campos, who was a 2nd Team all-conference selection her freshman year, she was one of the team's best defenders from a midfield position. Capable of holding off the opposing team's best players, she also contributed two goals and three assists as a sophomore.

Added Gonzalez, "Maria is a ball-winner who can get forward and help start the attack. She may not have been credited with a lot of assists, but she started a lot of our attacks with her defensive presence."

Life Christian will be playing their inaugural season in 2020 as an NAIA member in the Golden State Athletic Association (GSAC).

Although she saw limited action, Valentin drew the interest from the Royals. In her career, Valentin appeared in 25 games and was in the starting lineup seven times. She provided strong coverage on the back line and also picked up an assist in the team's 6-0 win over Los Angeles Harbor.

"Jay is a solid defender and hard worker on and off the field," stated Gonzalez. "She will bring solid defense of presence out of the back for Hope."

In 2019, the Royals went 9-10 on the year, which ended with a 4-3 loss to Ottawa University in the first round of the GSAC Tournament.
