On Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's soccer team played to their first tie of the season, as they drew even with visiting Rio Hondo College, 1-1. With the tie, the Falcons (4-11-1, 4-4-1) placed third in the South Coast Conference South Division will be seeded #6 for the upcoming SCC Tournament. The team will travel to #3-seeded Pasadena City College, who finished in second place in the SCC Noth Division and handed the Falcons a 1-0 defeat in their meeting earlier in the season.

Against the Roadrunners, Cerritos took a lead in the 25th minute on a nice offensive play. Sophomore Jaque Adame (North Torrance HS) worked the ball to the Rio Hondo goal line and was able to send a pass across the crease to freshman Madelynn Jones (Liberty HS), who scored on a one-timer into the back of the net. The goal was the team-leading sixth for Jones.

Holding off a short-handed Roadrunner team through the majority of the game, they were able to tie the game right before halftime. Rio Hondo's Raechel Guillen was able to get a shot over the head of sophomore goalkeeper Victoria Ruiz (Applied Technology Center HS) and into the net. Ruiz played very well and turned away eight shots.

Rio Hondo had multiple chances in the second half with five corner kicks, but the Falcons were able to turn them away each time. Cerritos finished the game with five shots on goal, while the Roadrunners had nine.
