Posting competitive marks in the relays and throws, the Cerritos College women's track and field team made the most of their time at the Rossi Relays on Saturday at Claremont College. As a team, the Falcons compiled 22 team points, which tied them for ninth place on the day. Next up for the team will be the Gaucho Relays at UC Santa Barbara next Saturday.
The highlight of the day was freshman thrower Mackenzie Monson (South Torrance HS), who improved in her career best distance in the hammer. After posting a throw of 50.09 meter last week, Monson bested that throw with a distance of 50.52 meters to come in second place on the day and is the best mark in the state.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Jasmine Soto-Castro (Schurr HS), Angel Corral (El Rancho HS), Camrynn Williams and Leeann Hong (Westminster HS) also turned in a state A Standard time of 48.88 and finished in eighth place.
