The Cerritos College women's water polo team played visiting Mt. San Antonio College close in the first period of their South Coast Conference match at the Falcon Aquatic Center on Wednesday. It was a close 4-3 match and when sophomore Celeste Ibarra (Gahr HS) scored to tie the match at 4-4, it would be the closest the team would get. The Mounties (6-1, 2-0) scored three straight goals and five of the next six goals and went on for a 13-10 victory over the Falcons (2-8, 0-2). The team will now play four games at the San Diego Mesa Tournament this weekend.

Ibarra led the team with four goals in the loss, but the big blow came when leading scorer Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) had to miss the remainder of the game after collecting her third ejection. At the time the third was called against her, Cerritos was down by four goals and Harvey had accounted for three of the teams's goals.

Freshman Samantha Cruz (Montebello HS) added a pair of goals and three steals in the loss, while freshman goalie Kristin Park (Cerritos HS) posted five saves.
