W. Water Polo: Team splits two games at Pasadena Tournament

The Cerritos College women's water polo team took part in the Pasadena City Tournament on Friday and split their two games. The Falcons dropped their first game against Diablo Valley College, 15-7 and then responded with a 15-8 win over the host Lancers. The two teams will meet up on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in a South Coast Conference match in Pasadena.

Cerritos vs. Diablo Valley: It was a close 3-2 Vikings lead after the first period, but then the Falcons were outscored 6-1 in the second period. They were unable to recover from the deficit, despite an offensive attack that included 31 shots. Sophomore Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) scored three times to lead Cerritos, while sophomore Ashley Padilla (California HS) added a pair of goals. The trio of sophomore Celeste Ibarra (Gahr HS), along with freshman Breanna Zuniga (California HS) and Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) each had two steals in the loss.

Cerritos vs. Pasadena City: Trailing 5-4 at halftime, the Falcons made several adjustments and it resulted in outscoring the Lancers, 11-3 in the second half to secure the victory. Harvey led the offense with six goals, with Ibarra accounting for four goals in the team's win. Zuniga had three goals, with Padilla posting two goals and four steals. Rabb led the defense with five steals, while freshman goalie Kristin Park (Cerritos HS) turned away eight shots.
