The Cerritos College women's water polo team fell behind 8-1 after the first half of their South Coast Conference match and never recovered. Facing a Long Beach City College team at the Falcon Aquatic Center after a water pump burst at the Vikings pool, the Falcons ended up dropping a 14-5 decision. Cerritos will now compete in the Pasadena City Tournament on Friday and take on Diablo Valley College (10:10 a.m.) and then play a 2:40 p.m. match against the host Lancers.

After the first period, it was a 5-0 Long Beach City lead and it was 6-0 until sophomore Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) got the team on the board with 3:20 left in the first half. Cerritos was able to get off 27 shots and Vikings goalkeeper Ayla Collier made 11 saves on the day.

Sophomore Ashley Padilla (California HS) scored two of the team's goals, while freshman Kristina Ramirez (Lakewood HS) also scored. Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Park (Cerritos HS) recorded 10 saves in the loss. Cathryn Lynch led LBCC with four goals, while the duo of Ashley Diaz and Lishtyeri Curiel each scored three times.
