W. Water Polo: Team honored with five all-conference selections

The Cerritos College women's water polo team had five players earn All-South Coast Conference recognition after concluding their 11-19 season where they came in fourth place. Leading the group was sophomore record-breaking goal scorer Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) and sophomore Ashley Padilla (California HS), who both were named to the 1st Team. Harvey was also honored by being named 2nd Team All-Southern California. Garnering 2nd Team recognition were sophomore Celeste Ibarra (Gahr HS) and freshman Breanna Zuniga (California HS), while freshman Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) was named Honorable Mention.

Harvey scored a school-record 126 goals this season to eclipse the old mark of 106 set by Berlyn Sanchez in 2005, while her career total of 169 goals puts her second in the record books behind Stephanie Rosero, who amassed 196 goals from 2007-08. Harvey also led the team with 28 assists and 63 steals, while she set another school record with 13 goals against Pasadena City. As for Padilla, she finished third on the team with 44 goals, while she contributed 27 assists and 44 steals.

Ibarra was second on the team with 48 goals this season and also added 27 steals, while Zuniga had 34 goals, 19 assists and 35 steals. Rabb saw time in goal late in the season and recorded 20 saves in three games, while she added 12 goals, 19 assists and was second on the team with 48 steals in her time playing in the field.
