Cerritos College sophomore Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) is on the brink of breaking the record for most goals in a season after amassing 18 in two tournament games on Saturday. After the Falcons defeated Rio Hondo College, 14-12 in their first game in the Battle at the Beach at Long Beach City College, Harvey scored 13 goals in the team's 22-13 win over Pasadena City College. That gives Harvey 104 goals on the season, which is tied for second most and trails only the 106 goals scored by Berlyn Sanchez in 2005. Stephanie Rosero also scored 104 goals during the 2007 season. The 13 goals scored against the Lancers also set a school record, breaking the old mark of nine by Zeny Esquivel in 1998.

Cerritos vs. Rio Hondo: Facing the Roadrunners, who recorded an 18-17 double-overtime decision on Wednesday, the Falcons were able to pull out the victory at the tournament. The game was close from start to finish, with Cerritos holding a slim 10-9 advantage heading into the fourth period. Harvey and freshman Breanna Zuniga (California HS) each scored five goals to lead the way, with sophomore Ashley Padilla (California HS) contributing three goals, three assists and four steals. Freshmen Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) and Kristina Ramirez (Lakewood HS) both posted three steals, with freshman Lucila Davies (Santa Fe HS) playing in goal and made six stops.

Cerritos vs. Pasadena City: In her record-breaking performance, Harvey scored 13 times on 17 shots, as the Falcons led from start to finish. They turned a 9-6 lead at halftime to a 17-11 advantage after the third period before settling on a nine-goal win over the Lancers. Harvey also had six steals on defense, while Rabb and sophomore Celeste Ibarra (Gahr HS), who scored four goals, both had three steals. Padilla had a hand in seven goals, as she scored one and assisted on six others, with Davies making three saves.

The Falcons (9-17) close out their regular season on Wedmesday with a 3:00 p.m. South Coast Conference match against El Camino College at the Falcon Aquatic Center.
