Needing three goals to break the Cerritos College women's water polo single-season goals record, sophomore Carla Harvey (Potomac Falls, VA HS) accomplished that feat with 5:46 left in the second quarter today. The Falcons (10-17, 4-4), who defeated visiting El Camino College, 12-8, received eight goals from Harvey, who now has 112 goals on the season. It eclipsed the old mark of 106 goals set by Berlyn Sanchez in 2005. Cerritos will now close out their season by playing in the South Coast Conference Tournament next week at Mt. San Antonio College.

Harvey opened the game with two straight goals to tie the record and then scored her record-setting goal to give Cerritos a 5-0 lead in the second quarter. The Warriors, who trailed by as much as 6-2, got to within 8-6 with 2:05 left in the third quarter. But the duo of Harvey and sophomore Ashley Padilla (California HS), who accounted for all 12 goals on the day, made it a 10-6 advantage to close out the quarter.

Freshman Lucila Davies (Santa Fe HS) took over the goalkeeping duties and recorded eight saves in the win, while freshman Breanna Zuniga (California HS) led the team with three steals. Kimberly Alvarado led El Camino with five goals, while goalie Cambria Serrano had six saves.
