For the second year in a row, the Cerritos College men's track and field team finished in third place at the Southern California Championships. The Falcons, who were serving as the host, compiled 55 points and trailed only Mt. San Antonio College (185 team points) and Riverside City College (104), while they held off fourth place San Diego Mesa College, who finished with 50 team points.

The CCCAA State Championships will take place next weekend at American River College in Sacramento.

Two of the main highlights on the day were the pair of first place finishes by the Falcons. In the 1600-meter relay, the quartet of Jhamani Long (Cerritos HS), Jahmal King (Bellflower HS), Clay Green (Los Alamitos HS) and Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS) posted the fastest time of the event with their clocking of 3:14.74. That capped off a day that also included the 400-meter relay team getting disqualified.

In the triple jump, sophomore Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS) came in first place with a distance of 14.98 meters, while his long jump of 6.99 meters put him in fourth place and qualified him for the state championships.

Below listed in BOLD are the athletes who have advanced to the state championships. Because if A Standard marks and scratches, those entries could change, while others could be added.
