The Cerritos College men's track and field team went up against primarily four-year schools in the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton over the weekend. The Falcons fared well and will get another chance next weekend, as members of the team will travel to the UNLV Invitational.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the performance of sophomore hurdler Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS), who took second place in the 400-meter IH with a time of 52.89. His time was only bested by Reggie Wyatt, who competed at USC and placed fourth at the 2016 Olympic Trials, and was clocked in 52.42. Logan also ran the 110-meter HH and posted an 11th place time of 15.38.

Competing in the B race of the 100 meters, freshman Jacob Gasser (Los Alamitos HS) recorded a second place time of 11.16, while freshman teammate Tyler Coffman (Los Alamitos HS) was clocked in 11.29, good for sixth place. Sophomore Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS) squared off against the top jumpers at the meet and finished fifth in the A group of the long jump (6.92 meters) and seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 14.13 meters. Also entered in the A group was sophomore hammer thrower Aladdin Abuhadba (Downey HS), who finished in fourth place with a throw of 40.94 meters.

Freshman Christopher Lawry (Ventura HS) tied for third place in the B group of the pole vault when he cleared 4.58 meters, while his high jump of 1.90 meters earned him a third place in the B group. In the B group of the long jump, sophomore David Williams (Long Beach Poly HS) finished in third place a 6.27 meters, with freshman Ike Agubata turning in a distance of 6.22 meters for a fourth place finish. Freshman Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) also took third place in the B group of the discus with a distance of 44.65 meters.

Occidental Invitational: Taking a small handful of athletes to the Occidental Invitational, the Falcons saw sophomore Jhamani Long (Cerritos HS) finish in eighth place out of 90 entries with an 800-meter time of 1:53.78.
