Competing at the UNLV Invitational on Saturday, the Cerritos College men's track and field team performed well against four-year competition. On the day, the Falcons won one event and saw three others post top five finishes. The team will continue squaring off against four-year schools next weekend when they travel to the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State University.

Turning in the best performance of the day, sophomore jumper Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS) tied for first place in the long jump and placed third in the triple jump. He recorded a long jump of 7.17 meters, with sophomore teammate Stacy Chukwumezie (Downey HS) placing fifth with a distance of 6.90 meters. In the triple jump, Robinson recorded a leap of 14.51 meters, which was bested by only Deante Gaines (15.26 meters) of Idaho State University and Basil Okoroike (15.10 meters) of UC Davis.

Freshman thrower Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) finished in seventh place in the discus (41.86 meters) and 10th in the shot put with a distance of 13.85 meters, while freshman pole vaulter Andrew Fowler (Los Alamitos HS) cleared 4.45 meters, which put him in sixth place.

In the running events, freshman sprinter Jacob Gasser (Los Alamitos HS) recorded a 100-meter time of 11.03, which put him in seventh place, while sophomore Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS) was clocked in 15.17 in the 110-meter HH, good for eighth place. In the 400 meters, sophomore Jahmal King (Bellflower HS) earned a 12th place finish with a time fo 49.03, with freshman Abraxaz Sanchez (Schurr HS) running the 800 meters in 1:55.98, which put him in eighth place. The 1600-meter relay team turned in a fast time of 3:20.15 to finish in third place out of 13 schools.
