With two entries on the first day of the CCCAA State Championships, the Cerritos College men's track and field team collected one team point. The Falcons, who will be entered in five events on the second day, are also represented by sophomore Zach Munoz (La Mirada HS/Cal State Fullerton) in the decathlon. After the first five events at American River College, he currently sits in fifth place with 3081 points.

Collecting the team's lone point, sophomore long jumper Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS) came in eighth place with a distance of 7.04 meters. After placing fourth at the Southern California Championships, Robinson recorded his best distance on his first attempt on the day. He came up shy of his personal best jump of 7.17 meters, which would have put him in fourth place in the event.

As for Munoz, he was consistent in the five events and sits nine points behind fourth place Brandon Jetter of American River College and is 140 points out of third place. He posted the third best long jump of the 12 competitors on the day with a distance of 6.50 meters, which earned him 697 points. He also did well in the shot put at 10.91 meters, good for 540 points, while his 400-meter time of 53.30 garnered him 669 points.

Munoz will compete in the 110-meter HH, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500 meters on Saturday.
