Winners of four events on the day, the Cerritos College men's track and field team hosted the Cerritos Open on a cool and windy afternoon. The Falcons will now compete in the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational next Friday and Saturday, with the throwing events happening at Falcon Stadium on Friday.

Competing in the decathlon, sophomore Zach Munoz (La Mirada HS/Cal State Fullerton) came out in first place with 5852 points over the two-day event. Tieing for first place was freshman Christopher Lawry (Ventura HS) in the high jump at 1.90 meters, while the 400-meter relay team recorded a winning time of 3:20.60.

In the throwing events, freshman Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) bested the field in the shot put with a distance of 14.65 meters, while sophomore Isaiah Chavez (Downey HS) took fourth place at 12.92 meters. Hammer thrower Giovanni Rubio (El Rancho HS) posted a third place distance of 42.88 meters. As for sophomore jumper Blair Robinson (Kennedy HS), he finished in second place in the triple jump at 14.20 meters, while his long jump of 6.46 meters earned him a fourth place finish. Sophomore Stacy Chukwumezie (Downey HS) took second in the long jump at 6.84 meters, with freshman Micqwaun Wright came in fourth place in the triple jump at 13.15 meters.

Sophomore Jhamani Long (Cerritos HS) recorded a time of 1:55.78 in the 800 meters to come in second place, with sophomore Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS) posting a second place time of 54.57 in the 400-meter IH.
