After helping lead the Cerritos College women's track and field team to their third straight CCCAA State Championship, Cerritos College Director of Track and Field Chris Richardson spent the summer coaching internationally. Richardson spent part of the summer in Lima, Peru as a USA assistant coach with the Pan American Junior Championships and was also in Dusselford, Germany as a USA assistant coach for the Thorpe Cup.

Richardson was an assistant jumps coach with the women's team at the Pan American Junior Championships, which is a biennial event organized by the Association of Panamerican Athletics (APA) open for junior (U20) athletes from member and associate member associations.

As for the Thorpe Cup, Richardson served as a women's assistant coach. The Thorpe Cup is an international track and field competition between USA and Germany. Teams are composed of up to seven men and seven women who compete in the decathlon and heptathlon. Athletes receive a predetermined number of points based upon their performances in each of the events in the decathlon and heptathlon. The top five men's and top three women's scores are added together to determine the overall men's and women's team winners.

Back in 2015 Richardson was selected to be part of the Team USA coaching staff for the 2015 NACAC Combined Cup event, which took place in Ottawa, Canada.
