The Cerritos College men's basketball team ran out of time in their opening game against Cuyamaca College at the Irvine Valley Tournament on Thursday, as they dropped an 88-76 decision. The Falcons (0-2) will now take on College of the Canyons at 1:00 p.m. in the consolation round.

In the first half, Cerritos had difficulty getting into any kind of rhythm on offense and defense, as they fell behind, 48-30 at intermission. Shooting only 33% from the field hurt the team, while the Coyotes hit on 56% of their shots and received balanced scoring from their starting lineup. They converted 40% of their shots in the second half and outscored Cuyamaca, 46-40.

Sophomore guard Anthony Holliday (Norwalk HS) appeared in his first game of the season and scored a team-high 19 points to go along with his five rebounds, four assists and three steals. However, he was only 6-of-19 from the field, with freshman guard Kevin Conrad (Buena Park HS) accounting for 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting. The duo of sophomores David Hall (Lynwood HS/Yavapai (AZ) College) and Marquise Washington (Westchester HS/Cypress College) each added 10 points in the loss. Harry Brazelton led Cuyamaca with 28 points, while four others scored in double-figures.
