With sole possession of first place in the South Coast Conference South Division on the line, the Cerritos College men's basketball team used a strong second half to post a 62-53 win. The road victory over Los Angeles Harbor was the fourth in a row for the Falcons, who moved to 10-7 overall and 4-0 in the division, while the Seahawks slipped to 7-9 and 3-1. On Wednesday, Cerritos will travel to Los Angeles Southwest College for a 5:00 p.m. divisional game.

With all of their scoring coming from the outside, Cerritos finally found an inside attack, thanks to sophomore Marquise Washington (Westchester HS/Cypress College), who scored three straight baskets in the paint to help pull the team in front, 45-42 with 5:45 left in the second half. The overall swarming defense by the Falcons forced 15 LA Harbor turnovers and allowed the team to transition offensively. It was a nine-point lead (53-44) with 3:31 left when sophomore David Hall (Lynwood HS/Yavapai, AZ CC) netted a three-pointer and then Washington (nine points, four rebounds) followed with an offensive rebound and put-back to increase the lead into double-figures.

The only aspect of the Cerritos was their free throw shooting, as the team converted only 15-of-28, with 10 of those misses coming in the second half. But by the time the Falcons were going to the free throw line, their lead was sizable enough to where it didn't affect the outcome of the game.

Sophomore DeAnthony Roberts (Gahr HS/Cypress College) opened the game by draining a pair of three-pointers, and finished the night with a team-high 12 points. Sophomore Anthony Holliday (Norwalk HS), who went for 31 points two nights earlier, was limited to 11 points, with eight of them coming in the first half. Hall and freshman Terence Traylor (Dominguez HS) each added seven points off the bench, while the two combined for 13 rebounds. Donnell Drain led LA Harbor with 11 points.
