Sophomore Andrew Torres (Montebello HS/Humboldt State University) hit a jumper with :25 seconds left in the second half, which turned out to be the game-winner in a 71-70 victory over Glendale College on Friday. The win improved the Falcons record to 4-4, as they will now enter the College of the Sequoias Tournament next Friday against the host Giants.

Mark Hicks of the Vaqueros (3-5) netted a pair of free throws to put them up, 68-67 and then scored a basket with :47 seconds left to make the score 70-69. But sophomore Marquise Washington (Westchester HS/Cypress HS), who answered the free throws by Hicks by scoring with 1:02 remaining, found Torres for the game-winner.

The biggest lead of the game was a 62-53 Glendale advantage with 4:37 left in the second half, but the Falcons fought back to go ahead 67-66 with 3:03 left after sophomore Anthony Holliday (Norwalk HS) converted one of two free throws.

Freshman guard Kevin Conrad (Buena Park HS) led the team with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while Washington came off the bench to add 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Holliday added 10 points and four rebounds in the win, with sophomore David Hall (Lynwood HS/Yavapai (AZ) CC) accounting for 11 points and five rebounds.
