Competing in the South Coast Conference pentathlon at Pasadena City College on Friday, the Cerritos College men's swimming team posted three top 10 finishes. The Falcons will now compete in the Golden West Invitational next Friday.

The day started with the 200-yard medley relay team recording a fourth place time of 1:55.93 and consisted of Steven Garcia (Lakewood HS), Billy Catton (La Quinta HS), Omar Serrano (Gahr HS) and Jake Evans (Long Beach Wilson HS). Catton also competed in a tight 100-yard breaststroke race, as he saw his time of 1:09.35 put him in 14th place. He was less than one second from moving into 10th place.

Freshman Sam Turley (La Quinta HS) had the best overall day, as he led the team in five individual races, with his best result coming in the 100-yard backstroke. He posted a time of 58.94, which put him in sixth place overall, while he came in ninth place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.75. He was a mere .55 from moving up the fifth place. Additionally, Turley took 11th place in the 100-yard freestyle (52.61), 12th place in the 200-yard IM (2:09.97) and 14th place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.35). He was less than a second away from taking sixth in the 100-yard freestyle and 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke.
