Highlighting a day where the Cerritos College men's track and field team took second place at the Coast Classic at Orange Coast College was the performance of sophomore Matthew Seawright (Long Beach Millikan HS). The sophomore thrower recorded a first place distance of 54.40 meters to easily win the event, while his toss eclipsed the old school record of 54.30 meters, which was set by Miguel Lopez in 2011. Seawright and the rest of the team will now take a week off before they host the Cal State Long Beach Invitational, which will take place on April 18.

Seawright was a two-time first place finisher in the Coast Classic, while the Falcons won five total events. He recorded a distance of 14.37 meters to win the shot put, while teammaate Andrew Prieto (El Rancho HS) finished in fourth place at 13.07 meters.
