Over the weekend, the Cerritos College men's track and field team had members competing in three different events. A trio of athletes took part in the Mt. SAC Combined Events Challenge, while others took part in the Crosstown Relays in the field and running events. The Falcons will host the Cerritos Invitational this Saturday.

Mt. SAC Combined Events Challenge: Sophomore Colin Monaco (Long Beach Poly HS) took third place out of 10 competitors and finished with 5349 overall points. He posted the fastest time in the 400 meters (51.09; 765 points) and the 1500 meters (4:23.14; 790 points) to help him garner points. His time of 11.60 was good for 732 points and he collected 608 points in the shot put. Monaco failed to earn any points in the pole vault, which prevented him from finishing in second place overall, as Juan Jimenez of Mt. SAC edged him by 91 points. Also competing for the Falcons in the combined events challenge were freshman Brandon Mulligan and sophomore Raymond Price (El Dorado HS), who came in seventh and eighth places overall, respectively.

Crosstown Relays - Field Events: Sophomore Matthew Seawright (Long Beach Millikan HS) won a pair of events and took second place in another for the Falcons. Additionally, freshman Andrew Hladek (Liberty, NV HS) won the javelin. Seawright turned in a distance of 43.83 meters to easily win the discus, while his throw of 54.05 made him a convincing winner in the hammer. Hladek posted a throw of 38.40 meters to win the javelin, with sophomore teammate Ismael Guerrero (Downey HS) a distant third place at 35.09 meters. In the triple jump, sophomore Jaime Vega (Downey HS) took second place with a distance of 13.80 meters, and was followed closely by teammates Eric Knowles (Saint Francis HS) and Anthony Figueroa (Whittier HS) in third and fourth places, respectively.

Crosstown Relays - Running Events: Cerritos won four relay events on the day. They posted a first place time of 3:28.17 in the 1600-meter relay, which consisted of Eddie Reyes (Inglewood HS), Prinz Matthew Singson (Cheyenne, WY HS), Clifford Scott (Carson HS) and Virjilio Griggs (Warren, TX HS), while the quartet of Isaiah Marshall (Carson HS), Anthony Lozano (La Serna HS), Jorge Puga (Downey HS) and Joshua Quarles (Cerritos HS) posted a time of 8:01.92 to win the 3200-meter relay. In the 1600-meter sprint medley, the Falcons won with a time of 3:44.19 and used Reyes, Singson, Knowles and Dale Hinton, while the team of Dario Robinson (Schurr HS), Mackenzi Rickman, Tyler Rios (Los Alamitos HS) and Juan Ward to win the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdles in 1:01.49.
