The Cerritos College men's track and field team concluded the CCCAA State Championship with one individual winner and took seventh place as a team over the weekend at San Mateo College. The Falcons finished with 37 team points, with South Coast Conference rival Mt. San Antonio College pulling out the team title with 101 points, ahead of second place College of the Sequoias, who had 100 points.

Sophomore Mackenzi Rickman (Carson HS) concluded his Falcon career by winning the 110-meter HH with a personal best time of 14.28. Freshman teammate Dario Robinson (Schurr HS) gave Cerritos a 1-2 punch, as he took second pace in a time of 14.49. The team's top hurdler this season, freshman Juan Ward - who had the fastest time in the state this season - was absent from the event after being disqualified from the South California Championships when he didn't finish the race.

Both relay teams competed, but could only earn a seventh place finish in the 400-meter event, as the 1600-meter quartet came in ninth place. The foursome of Ricardo Thomas (Warren HS), Virjilio Griggs (Warren, TX HS), Clifford Scott (Carson HS) and Ward posted a time of 41.94 for seventh place, while Thomas, Rickman, Justin Reid (Lakewood HS) and Griggs finished the 1600-meter race in 3:21.14.

Griggs looked to earn a championship in the 200 meters, but his time of 21.54 earned him a second place finish, as he trailed champion Drelan Bramwel of College of the Sequoias, who turned in a time of 21.36 to edge him out. Sophomore thrower Matthew Seawright (Long Beach Millikan HS) competed in three events with a fifth place finish in the hammer his best result.
