After winning a couple of games on Friday at the Golden West Tournament, the Cerritos College men's water polo team was defeated twice on Saturday. The Falcons (13-12) were defeated by South Coast Conference rival Long Beach City, 13-5 and then dropped an 11-9 decision to Northern California powerhouse Diablo Valley. The team will play their final conference match at Chaffey College on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. and then compete in the conference tournament the following weekend.

In the loss to LBCC, sophomore Miguel Garcia (Montebello HS), the team's leading scorer, accounted for a pair of goals, with sophomore Albert Kim (Cerritos HS) pacing the team with three steals. Nine different players had at least one steal, but the Falcons struggled to score. In goal, freshman Alfredo De La Mora (Bell Gardens HS) had seven saves before coming out of the game, with freshman replacement Michael Asendorf (Sunny Hills HS) making a pair of stops.

It was a close match against Diablo Valley, with sophomore TJ Tijerina (Bell Gardens HS) finding the back of the net three times, with Garcia, sophomore Randy Baldwin (Buena Park HS/Fullerton College) and freshman Eugene Lee (Hacienda Heights Wilson HS) each adding a pair of goals in the loss. Tijerina was involved in a battle in front of the net and drew three ejections, while he was also called for three. De La Mora registered 11 saves in the match.
