Freshman first baseman Keira Bolinas (Torrance HS) broke a 7-7 tie with a two-out, two-run single in the top of the seventh inning to lead the Cerritos College softball team to a 9-7 South Coast Conference crossover win over host Pasadena City College on Tuesday. The win improves the Falcons record to 6-5, as the team will play their third of four games in the week on Thursday when they host Rio Hondo College at 3:00 p.m. in another conference crossover game.

After the Lancers (5-3) tied the game at 7-7 with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Cerritos came back in the top of the seventh to regain the lead. Freshman shortstop Tena Spoolstra (Mayfair HS) reached base on a fielder's choice and stole second with two outs. Sophomore Tatyana Peko (La Habra HS) and freshman designated player Kayla Hernandez (Santa Fe HS) extended the inning with a walks, which set the table for Bolinas, who drove home a pair with a single to left-center field. It marked her third hit on the day.

However, Pasadena City would not go quietly in the bottom of the seventh inning. With freshman Allisyn Udell (Whittier Christian HS) in the circle, Amanda Flores led off with a base hit and eventually moved to second base on a wild pitch. Leilani Montanez executed a nice bunt back to Udell for an infield single and then stole second base. Freshman starting pitcher Sierra Gerdts (Montebello HS) returned to the circle and was the recipient of a game-ending double play. Audrey Sebastian popped up, with the umpire calling the infield fly rule, and after the ball dropped between third baseman Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS) and shortstop Tena Spoolstra, Spoolstra threw to home, where freshman catcher Deja Sendejas (El Rancho HS) tagged out Flores and then finished the play to end the game.

Offensively, each time Cerritos would get on the board, the Lancers had an answer in the bottom of the stanza. Leading 4-0 in the second inning, thanks in part to a two-run double by freshman outfielder Brianna Spoolstra (Mayfair HS), PCC scored three times in the bottom of the inning. They also answered the Falcons runs in the fifth and sixth innings before the eventual game-winning hit by Bolinas.

In addition to the big day at the plate for Bolinas, Lopez went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and a walk, while Hernandez was 2-for-4 and sophomore outfielder Emma Wolff (Mayfair HS) drew a pair of walks. Udell earned her first collegiate win, while Gerdts picked up her first collegiate save.
