On Thursday afternoon, the Cerritos College softball team was only able to get three baserunners in a 5-0 South Coast Conference crossover loss to Mt. San Antonio College. The loss was the second in a row for the Falcons (2-3), who will host College of the Canyons in a doubleheader on Saturday at Nancy Kelly Field.

The Mounties took advantage of three Cerritos errors in the first three innings to open a 5-0 lead, with only two of the runs being earned. Mt. SAC was set down in order the next two innings, but loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth inning against sophomore Sierra Gerdts (Montebello HS), and she was able to retire the next three batters to get out of the situation. Sophomore Ally Udell (Whittier Christian HS) came on in relief of freshman starter Skyler Swearingen (Mayfair HS), and pitched a solid 3 1/3 innings, as she allowed one run on two hits.

Offensively, the Falcons were unable to collect a hit against pitcher Briana Wheeler and had just three baserunners. In the top of the first inning, sophomore Tena Spoolstra (Mayfair HS) reached on an error, but Cerritos was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Sophomore Deja Sendejas (El Rancho HS) led off the second inning by drawing a walk, but could not be advanced, with sophomore Nicoal Magdaleno (La Habra HS) leading off the top of the sixth inning with a walk, but was stranded on first base.
