Taking on 8th-ranked Pasadena City College in a South Coast Conference game on Thursday, the Cerritos College softball team posted a 4-3 win. The victory improved the Falcons record to 9-10 overall and 5-6 in conference play. The team will host Los Angeles Mission College at noon on Saturday in a non-conference game at Nancy Kelly Field.

Cerritos took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, thanks to a home run by sophomore first baseman Keira Bolinas (Torrance HS). With one out, sophomore shortstop Tena Spoolstra (Mayfair HS) laced a double, with Bolinas stepping up to drive them both in with her second home run of the season.

The Lancers made it a 2-1 game in the top of the third, with the Falcons responding with a run in the bottom of the inning to regain their two-run lead. With two outs, freshman outfielder Itzel Soto (Long Beach Millikan HS) singled and then raced home to score on a fielding error by Pasadena City (13-7, 8-4) centerfielder Gabi Perez.

In what turned out to be the game-winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning, freshman second baseman Erica Martinez (Kennedy HS) led off with a single, moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt and eventually came home on a base hit by freshman outfielder Haley Davis (Mayfair HS).

Heading into the top of the sixth inning, the Lancers were able to get two runs off relief pitcher Ally Udell (Whittier Christian HS), with an error helping them along the way. Udell, who earned the win, gave up a leadoff walk and a sacrifice bunt in the seventh inning, with freshman Skyler Swearingen (Mayfair HS) coming in to pick up the save after retiring both batters she faced.
