With her 4704 total points, Cerritos College freshman Breanna Curry (University HS) won the Southern California heptathlon championship at San Diego Mesa College on Wednesday. The point total was the second most in school history and advances her to the CCCA State Championship. Sophomore teammate Jordan Agnew (Los Alamitos HS/Cal State Long Beach) finished in third place with 4394 points, which also qualifies her for the state championships. It's also the fifth most points in school history.

The Falcons entered five athletes into the meet, with sophomores Taylor Hawkins (Narbonne HS) and Raiven Ellis (California HS) finishing in seventh and eighth places, respectively, while Sydney Batts (Long Beach Poly HS) placed 13th.

Curry posted the most points in three of the eight events, while she had the second most points in another. She racked up 843 points in the 100-HH with a time of 14.99, while her high jump clearance of 1.70 meters added 855 more points to her total. The high jump clearance eclipsed her personal best and moves her into third on the school's top five list. In the long jump, Curry amassed 654 points with a distance of 5.34 meters, with her 200-meter time of 26.70 picking her up 737 points.

As for Agnew, her most productive event was the 100-meter HH, where he time of 15.28 netted her 805 points, while her javelin throw of 33.74 meters was the best of the field and earned her 548 points. The Falcons recorded the top three distances in the javelin, with Ellis (33.48 meters, 543 points) and Curry (31.46 meters, 504 points) taking second and third, respectively. Hawkins posted the best shot put with a toss of 9.63 meters (505 points), while her long jump of 5.29 meters was good for second place and 640 points.
