The first time they faced Pasadena City College, the Cerritos College volleyball team extended the match to five sets before coming up short. On Friday, the host Falcons (8-13, 5-8) once again took an early lead against the Lancers (14-8, 12-1), but couldn't come out on top, as they dropped a 25-20, 23-25, 21-25, 22-25 South Coast Conference match. The team will conclude their season on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. when they host Los Angeles Harbor College.

Cerritos pulled away from a close 9-9 match in the first set by taking a 17-11 lead only to see Pasadena City get back to within 17-16. But a pair of Lancer attack errors, coupled with three timely kills from freshman Amanda Payne (Orange Lutheran HS) helped the Falcons post the win. It was the opposite in the second set, as PCC jumped out to an 18-9 lead and saw Cerritos fight to get back into the match. A six-point run got them to within 18-15, while a pair of errors, coupled with two kills from freshman Jasmynne Roberts (Long Beach Poly HS) put the contest at 23-22 in favor of Pasadena. After both teams traded kills, a service error accounted for the winning point for the Lancers.

From that point on, the Lancers turned to the duo of Nora To'omalatai (20 kills) and Thula Parks (15 kills) for their offense, with setter Tiffany Roesler setting the team up with 54 assists. Parks finished off the third set with a kill, while it was her service ace that sealed the win on the night. Angela Banuelos (nine kills) and Briana Hilton (eight kills) also played well for PCC. Nine service aces aided Pasadena City in their win, but the teams were evenly matched statistically by the time the match concluded.

Roberts had one of her best matches of her career, as she recorded a personal best 23 kills and added 17 digs, with Payne contributing 15 kills and four service aces. Freshman Brianna Gutierrez (St. Matthias HS) posted eight kills and no errors, while the pair of Chelsea James (La Mirada HS) and Valerie Montoya (La Mirada HS) both had six kills. The setting duo of Michelle Barba (Downey HS) and Crissy Silavong (Katella HS) dished out 27 and 23 assists, respectively.
