On Wednesday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team picked up their third straight win, as they defeated visiting San Bernardino Valley College, 25-10, 25-19, 25-13. The Falcons (3-1) will travel to Riverside City College on Friday for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference match.

Getting off to a great start against the Wolverines (0-6), the team was successful on 65% of their attacks, while they finished the match hitting a solid 34.7%. Couple that with 13 service aces and the Falcons put themselves in great shape to register the win. In the first set, it was a close 6-4 match until Cerritos scored the next six points and then finished off San Bernardino Valley by recording the final seven points to secure the first set.

Cerritos jumped out to a 22-10 lead in the second set, but let the Wolverines back into the match by allowing four service aces by Melanie Lizama, along with three attack errors, which closed the lead to 22-19. Freshman setter Mirka Granoble (Downey HS) stopped the rally with a kill, with freshman Alexia Torres (Downey HS) driving home the final two points with kills.

The third set saw the Falcons lead wire to wire and finished off the day by recording the final six points, with Torres contributing a kill and a block assist. The match point came on a service ace.

Sophomore Jody Suski (Cerritos HS) led the team with 10 kills and had six digs, with Torres and sophomore Nadia Arreaga (L.A.C.E.S. HS) finishing with eight kills each. Granoble registered 23 assists and a team-high eight digs, with sophomore Regan Stanton (Lakewood HS/Long Beach CC) ending the night with a team-high five service aces.
