On Saturday at the Santa Barbara Tournament, the Cerritos College volleyball team suffered a pair of four-set losses, which drops their season record to 3-4. They opened with a 14-25, 25-20, 20-25, 17-25 setback against the host Vaqueros and followed that with a 22-25, 25-23, 21-25, 13-25 defeat at the hands of Cuesta College. The Falcons will travel to San Diego City College on Wednesday before playing their next four matches at home.

Cerritos vs. Santa Barbara City: After splitting the first two sets, the Falcons had a chance to take a lead in the match, but couldn't come back against the Vaqueros, and then couldn't recover in the fourth set. Freshman Alexia Torres (Downey HS) led the team with nine kills, while freshman Sierra Hernandez-Hardy (Bishop Amat HS) accounted for eight kills and shared the team lead with 13 digs. Cerritos extended rallies with their play along the back row, as they recorded 70 digs in the loss. Sophomore Jody Suski (Cerritos HS) also had 13 digs to go along with eight kills, with freshmen Mirka Granoble (Downey HS) and Lizbeth Vega (Paramount HS) sharing the setting duties. They combined for 26 assists, with Vega adding 12 digs, as did sophomore Regan Stanton (Lakewood HS/Long Beach CC), who also had six assists.

Cerritos vs. Cuesta: After three tight sets that could have gone either way, the Falcons ran out of gas against the Cougars. Cerritos has played the last three matches without one of their top outside hitters, freshman Brooke Winquist (Lakewood HS), who is expected back in the lineup against the Knights. Hernandez-Hardy (10 digs, five block assists) and Suski each posted 11 kills (nine digs) to lead the team, with Vega accepting the setter role and produced 16 assists and eight digs. Sophomore Nadia Arreaga (L.A.C.E.S. HS) contributed five kills and nine digs in the match.
