The Cerritos College women's water polo team opened their 2015 South Coast Conference season with a 14-6 win over Rio Hondo College on Wednesday at the Falcon Aquatic Center. The team will now compete in the Chaffey Tournament and play four games over the weekend. The Falcons (3-2, 1-0) will open with games against Cypress and Riverside City on Friday and then take on Fresno City and San Diego Mesa on Saturday.

In the win over the Roadrunners (2-3, 0-1), Cerritos scored the first three goals of the game by three different scorers and held an 8-4 advantage at halftime. The lead was never threatened, as the team received five goals from freshman Vanessa Hinojosa (Bell Gardens HS), while freshman Mikaela Padilla (Schurr HS) added four goals and four steals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) turned away five shots in the win, with sophomore Claudia Martinez (Roosevelt HS) accounting for a pair of goals.
