The Cerritos College women's water polo team secured the #4-seed for the upcoming South Coast Conference Tournament after their 11-4 win at East Los Angeles College on Wednesday. The Falcons (8-15, 4-3) are serving as the host of the SCC Tournament, which will take place November 6-7 and open with a 12:45 p.m. game against Pasadena City College. In their first meeting, Cerritos recorded a 5-4 win over the Lancers.

In the win over the Huskies, the Falcons had three players with at least five steals, while five different players scored at least one goal. The team opened a 7-1 lead after the first period and were not threatened the entire match. They held their 11-4 lead after the third period, with neither team scoring in the fourth.

The duo of freshmen Vanessa Hinojosa (Bell Gardens HS) and Mikaela Padilla (Schurr HS) each scored three times in the win, with sophomores Breanna Zuniga (California HS) and Claudia Martinez (Roosevelt HS) both posting a pair of goals. Freshman Jenny Parra (Schurr HS) finished with a season-high six steals, while the tandem of Martinez and freshman Channon Owens (Kennedy HS) each recorded five steals. Sophomore goalie Amanda Rabb (Gahr HS) turned away four shots.
