The Cerritos College baseball team pulled away from visiting Glendale College on Wednesday and posted a 9-1 non-conference win at Kincaid Field. The win was the second in as many days for the Falcons (7-6), who will now open South Coast Conference play next Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with the first of three game against El Camino College.

After the first two innings, Cerritos held a 4-0 lead, thanks in part to a Vaquero (5-6) error that opened the door for a three-run second inning. Holding a 4-1 advantage heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, the Falcons added five runs to their total, with two Glendale errors resulting in all of the runs being unearned. The biggest blow was a two-out, bases loaded double by freshman Kyle Carpenter (Mayfair HS), which drove in three runs.

Sophomore starting pitcher Jared Robinson (Bishop Amat HS) earned the win by going the first seven inning and scattered five hits while striking out seven batters. The lone run he allowed in the sixth inning was unearned.

Cerritos peppered seven Glendale pitchers for 12 hits, with Carpenter driving in four runs, while sophomore third baseman went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI. Sophomore outfielder Jose Ayala (Maywood Academy HS) and freshman shortstop Daniel Lopez (Montebello HS) each collected two hits and scored twice, with leadoff hitter Johnny Martinez (Katella HS) scored three times in a winning cause.
