After the first four innings of their South Coast Conference game, the Cerritos College baseball team was trailing, 6-0 to host El Camino College. It was the final game of their three-game set, with each team winning once heading into Saturday. However, the Warriors (10-6, 2-1) were able to get the best of sophomore starting pitcher Jared Robinson (Bishop Amat HS), who was removed in the second inning after allowing four runs and six hits.

The Falcons (8-8, 1-2) will now start a three-game series against Long Beach City College, which begins on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Joe Hicks Field. Cerritos will host the second game on Thursday, with the Vikings the home team on Saturday.

Cerritos scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to get to within 6-2, but El Camino responded with three in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach. With one out in the top of the fifth inning, freshman shortstop Daniel Lopez (Montebello HS) singled and moved to third base on a double by sophomore outfielder Jose Ayala (Maywood Academy HS). The run came home on an infield out by sophomore catcher Chris Carrillo (St. Paul HS/San Jose State University).

Sophomore outfielder Johnny Martinez (Katella HS) led off the sixth inning when he reached base on an error. A single by sophomore third baseman Hayden Stevens (Katella HS) advanced Martinez, while a second error kept the inning alive. Freshman outfielder Kenton McDonald (Long Beach Poly HS) slapped out a base hit to bring home Martinez.

In addition to Robinson pitching, the Falcons employed six other pitchers in the game, with freshman Ryan Arambula (Bell Gardens HS) going the longest, as he 2 2/3 innings while allowing four runs, but struck out four in his appearance.
