The pitching duo of Lily Cornejo (Paramount HS) and Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS) limited Antelope Valley College to three runs on eight hits, as the Cerritos College softball team posted a 4-3 non-conference win on Tuesday. The win by the Falcons was the second in as many days, while the team will now head to Santiago Canyon College on Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m. non-conference game.

Cornejo, who has started the first two games of the season, surrendered a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first inning, but limited the Marauders to just two hits during the remainder of her three innings of work. Ramirez did give up a run in the top of the sixth inning, and worked out of a first and second base situation in the seventh inning, as Ashlee Vivirito popped up to the circle to end the threat and the game. Ramirez pitched the final four innings to earn the win.

Cerritos scored single runs in the second and third innings and took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on a run-scoring single from freshman third baseman Ariana Mejia (Gahr HS), followed by a sacrifice fly from sophomore first baseman Andrea Arellano (Downey HS). The inning started with a one-out single by sophomore outfielder Aubrey Formano (St. Paul HS/Fullerton HS) and a walk to sophomore second baseman Regina Ayala (Santa Fe HS/University of Louisiana at Monroe). An illegal pitch advanced the runners before Mejia and Arellano gave the team the lead against relief pitcher Hannah Ulibarri.
