The Cerritos College softball team surrendered a pair of runs to host East Los Angeles College in the first inning of their South Coast Conference conference game on Thursday. The Huskies would collect just one hit the remainder of the game, while the Falcons went on to pound out 14 hits and registered a 14-2, 5-inning win, which was the team's seventh win in their last eight games. They will now travel to Cypress College for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference game on Saturday.

The offense came to life in the third inning, as Cerritos scored eight runs on seven hits, with the big blow being a three-run double from sophomore second baseman Gina Ayala (Santa Fe HS/University of Louisiana at Monroe), which broke a 2-2 tie. Sophomore catcher Katie Caraballo (El Rancho HS) and sophomore first baseman Andrea Arellano (Downey HS) each added two-run singles in the inning.

After a troublesome first inning, freshman pitcher Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS) settled down the next two innings, while her bat came to life along the way. She clubbed a two-run double in the fourth inning and a three-run double in the fifth inning to clear the bases. Sophomore pitcher Kayla Klein (La Habra HS/Texas &AM University) pitched the final two innings of the game.
