Ariana Mejia (Gahr HS) and Jamie Ramirez (El Rancho HS) both hit home runs to lead the Cerritos College softball team to a 3-1 non-conference win against visiting Glendale College on Wednesday. The win improved the Falcons to 9-6 on the season, while the team will play their third home game in as many days when they host ECC Compton Center in a South Coast Conference game at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Trailing 1-0 after a Jena Kaser solo home run for the Vaqueros (7-7) in the top of the second inning, Cerritos received a two-out walk to sophomore first baseman Andrea Arellano (Downey HS). Mejia then stepped up and laced a 1-0 offering from Katie Bakhshian over the fence for her second home run of the season.

Sophomore pitcher Kayla Klein (La Habra HS/Texas A&M University) came on in relief of sophomore Lily Cornejo (Paramount HS) in the third inning and limited Glendale to three singles and earned the win. Klein also struck out five batters and walk two, both in the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ramirez homered over the center field fence for her first round-tripper of the season to give the Falcons an insurance run.
